Communication

Communication around these parts is getting soo much better! Little miss Ilene talks more and more every single day.  Her new words this week were waffle, home, byee, and she has been saying a bunch of others for a while.

Some of my favorite things Alli says that I want to remember are-firghter fighter (fire fighter) and badget (badge or badges).   She is constantly amazing us with her crazy memory.  She recognizes logos, sounds, and songs from weeks/months ago that she has seem only once or twice and recall them randomly.  She also is the current queen of one-liners from movies.  Granted these are coming from Clifford, Curious George (Hold on their's a monkey and a weiner dog at the door), Martha Speaks (I can't hear you I've just been blasted by a sonic boom), and of course Backyardiganst (as she calls them).  She will sings bits and pieces of songs, but my favorite is truly when she just randomly throws one out there.  I wish I could remember more of them! She is so much fun and she is still such a caring girl.  She is very challenging at times, but I have been reading this book about spirited children and it describes her completely! She is very persistent (strong willed), but she really won't give up once she has started something-for better or for worse :).  She will make her needs/wants known (lots of times in great ways and it is very very helpful, but obviously at times is not so positive about it...), very creative-she is always thinking about solutions to problems and different ways to do things. So far this is still only a positive.  She is pretty good about going in and picking out her own clothes-sometimes I love this and other times I would rather pick them out :).  She is very particular about how things are and if she has a "plan" or if we have made a plan then she really likes to stick to that-at times she will tell us "That was NOT my plan" or "yeah that was my plan!" Most times she adapts really well if there is a change, but other times it is a struggle.  More and more I am starting to see how difficult this summer was for her and it has explained so much about how her behavior has sometimes been normal and sometimes I have really wondered if I had "ruined" her :)  For her to go from 2 really actively involved parents to 1-Ryan not being able to be on his foot at all so he is basically out of commission and 2- at the same time having her mom being very much pregnant trying to take on the responsibilities Ryan does at home (with help from great family and neighbors) while having nerve pain and the regular end of pregnancy awesomeness and then 3-have a new baby brother was difficult.  She LOVES Cameron and has never ever expressed anything but love towards him, but I feel bad because she didn't know how to express how hard this change was.  I feel like I just expected her to "get it" more than I should have and I needed her to help a lot-which she did, but she is 4! Anyway it really wasn't a horrible transition or anything, but it has helped me realize more about her and how she is growing and changing.
